Stuart soars out of Santander

Yes Elvis has left the building

After a week of mayhem and no time to blog Stu is now safely sliding towards Stansted and Fat Al is getting a bus back to pick up where he left off.

They started in Pamplona we got to Santo Domingo before bus Jimenez famous for the Zaragoza - Logrono - Burgos and all points nearby whisked us down the camino at dangerously scary speeds. Stu slid his seat belt on after one such manoeuvre where the oncoming truck slowed to allow our driver to safely get back to his own side. I'd warned him about health and safety on the camino but not about the drivers. After stops at Granon, Redicilla, Tosantos, villambista, Belorado and Montes de Oca the bus speeded into Burgos for 1.55pm. If you ever need to get the 1pm bus from Santo Domingo, I'd get there at 12.45, let's face it, nobody hangs around when siesta is near.

We took our siesta in the outstanding Hotel Fernan Gonzalez. Its just across the river if you exit the city walls on the left of the cathedral. At 47 euro it fitted our price and the quality was outrageously opulent.

As I packed Stu on the 3.15am bus to Santander and headed back to bed it was good to slide into slumber. I knew we could drink but even I was shocked at the number of bars we could close. Just outside the city walls is a French cafe which at 2.20am finally showed us the door.

More later but now its time for sleep
